About

Mac R. McCoy serves as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Fort Myers Division of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Judge McCoy has participated in the UF Law E-Discovery Conference since 2018, endeavoring to bring a practical judicial perspective to the conference faculty. Before taking the bench, Judge McCoy was a Shareholder in the National Trial and National Class Actions Practice Groups at Carlton Fields, P.A. in Tampa, Florida. Judge McCoy received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law in 2001 and a dual Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in Political Science and French from Stetson University’s Honors Program in 1998. Judge McCoy is an active leader within the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and, among other roles, serves as the Section’s Secretary and as Chair of the Section’s premier digital platform, Business Law Today (businesslawtoday.org). Judge McCoy is also an active member of the Federal Court Practice Committee of The Florida Bar. Within the Court, Judge McCoy serves on the Rules of Practice, Procedure, and Administration Committee, the Bench Bar Fund Committee, and the Magistrate Judges Committee.
